Alexander MacFaul
Born in 1972, Alexander did a Foundation course at Chelsea College of Art and studied Graphic Design at Camberwell then attended Christ Church College, Canterbury to achieve an MA in Fine Art.
In 1994 he won the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers Award for work of out- standing merit at the Federation of British Artists (The New English Art Club Exhibition), at the Mall Galleries, London.
In 1997 he won the Marks and Spencer 2nd prize for a Young Artist, again at The New English Art Club, Mall Galleries.
The urban environment inspires Alexander’s work, and he has a particular fascination for the life of cities after dark. He tries to combine the physicality of the scene with his own emotional response to the subject. He believes that through capturing the atmosphere and mood, his paintings come to life. “For me, the city is a place of infinite possibilities in terms of painting. It is exciting, mysterious and often beautiful. The more I explore it, the more fascinating it gets.”
His work is in the collections of:
Holman, Fenwick & William, London.
Gard UK, London.
Streathers, London.
Ampleforth College, North Yorkshire.
Trinity Chambers, Newcastle Upon Tyne.
